Our Mission. In community with families, parents, elders, and allies, Vision Academy labors to create and hold spaces for our youth to feel safe in, be heard and shine.
Our Vision. Youth are the living embodiment of 415 values and culture; and they have the distinct power to care for the City’s past, present and to decide its future. It is our duty to support our youth with community-built programs and practices that focus on care, transference of lived experiences, and trust.
Our Namesake. It is our intention to inspire youth to look inside their hearts to discover who they are, and from this place create and pursue a "vision" of how they wish to experience and live their life.
Our History. Founded in 2011, and built by Black and Latinx families, Dr. Joseph Bryant Jr. and the congregation at Calvary Hill Community Church, and the Good Samartian Family Resource Center, Vision Academy has increased access to quality afterschool and summer programs for children and youth in the Bayview and Mission districts of San Francisco. In the summer of 2015, Vision Academy became an official program of the Good Samaritan Family Resource Center.
In partnership with Calvary Hill Community Church, we offer an academic afterschool program for youth 5 - 13 years of age. Supper and transportation provided.
A safe and enriching place for SF youth. Summer camp activities include lots of outdoor play, chess, coding, art clubs, summer reading, local field trips and more.
We are the founding contributor, and practitioner of the 415 Youth Framework (415YF). Periodically we host donation-based trainings for local non-profits. Also, we train folks to teach Chess.
